At Radio Watermelon, we verify individuals directly through live video calls in Arabic or English, asking simple, respectful questions. We don’t collect documents or invade anyone’s privacy. Our goal is to confirm that the person behind the campaign is real, not just a profile picture or a copied story.

This process helps protect donors from scams, but more importantly, it amplifies the voices of Palestinians who are too often silenced or overlooked. When someone is #VerifiedByRadioWatermelon, supporters know their help is reaching real families in need. Verification bridges the gap between compassion and action—and ensures every dollar goes where it’s truly needed.

1. Purpose and Clarification

   Radio Watermelon does not collect funds or accept donations on behalf of anyone. Our sole role is to promote campaigns by Palestinians in Gaza who have been verified.

2. Philosophy and Safety

   Our process is designed to be respectful, simple, safe, and transparent. We do not request government IDs or any sensitive documentation. We do not ask for someone’s exact location—only whether they are in the North or South of Gaza, which helps us gauge local pricing for food and medicine. We never ask for phone numbers and strongly advise against using WhatsApp due to surveillance risks. All communication and verification takes place securely on Discord, which allows for safe conference calls.

3. Initial Steps

   Palestinians who wish to be verified send a Direct Message (DM) to @RadioWatermelon. They receive a link to complete Radio Watermelon application form. Once they complete the form and select “Done,” we cross-check the information in our database. If confirmed and the person verifies they are located in Gaza, we send them a secure Discord link along with the verification schedule.

4. Video Verification on Discord

   Verification calls are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 3:30PM to 5:30PM Gaza time. Once the person enters the server, they join the call during those scheduled times. The call lasts around 10 seconds—just enough for them to show their surroundings or a recognizable Gaza landmark. Once verified visually, they turn off the camera, and the rest of the conversation continues normally. A translator and a witness are always present during the call to ensure clarity and transparency.

5. Final Steps and Support

   Once someone is verified to be in Gaza, their information is added to our internal database. A designated team member posts all newly verified individuals to the @RadioWatermelon X page mentioning that they have been #VerifiedByRadioWatermelon. For individuals who have been verified for a longer period, volunteers help share their bios along with campaign details also on X. Additionally, a member of our team coordinates their future appearance on a @RadioWatermelon X space to amplify their story and expand their reach. This is how we maintain transparency, security, and trust at @RadioWatermelon.
